Job description:
Purpose of this position:
The purpose of this position is to reduce risk to organization related to patient/resident care. Conducts audits of processes and procedures, provides staff education to improve resident/patient outcomes, and compiles data on and analyzes to identify areas of risk.

Adhere to company policies and procedures:
§ Maintain confidentiality of resident information following HIPAA regulations.
§ Review nursing procedures manual periodically and maintain working knowledge of current procedures as applicable.
§ Practical application of LTC regulations as it pertains to resident care.
§ Follow Universal Precautions & observe infection control policies including PPE (to include N95 respirator masks & surgical masks) and hand-washing.
§ Demonstrate knowledge of and process of resident evacuation in the event of fire or tornado.
§ Follow resident rights policies at all times
§ Assists DON with all the functions of the Nursing Department
§ In the absence of the DON, will interview, hire, discipline, and terminate employees according to facility policies.
§ Act in the absence of the DON.
§ Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local codes, laws, and regulations governing the facility.
§ Instructs and documents training of staff in policy and procedures pertinent to their individual department.
§ Complete staff orientation and competencies as needed.

Regulatory Compliance Assurance:
Update care plans as needed
Identify areas for improvement based on audit results and work with other nursing staff to modify processes and educate staff to achieve desired outcomes.
Crash cart audits
Audit documentation for BM and baths on 3rd floor.
Follow up on dietary recommendations
Assist with family calls and meeting coordinated by Social Services
Audit pharmacy inbox as needed
Review new admission orders and enter into Matrix if needed.
Charting:
Complete Medicare chart review daily to ensure daily skilled note is being completed.
Ensure proper documentation of notification to residents or families with new orders
Audit MAR/TARs as needed
Communication with Wester:
Assist Wester with signing orders in computer, weekly rounds, and assist in managing IMDoc when nursing team supervisor is not on shift. This includes requests for orders from other departments.
Grievances:
Investigate and document al grievances filed that are nursing related. Develop recommendations for resolution.

Other necessary job functions:
Participate in Quality Assurance, Safety, PIPs and other committees as required.
Provide a safe working environment for staff members, promptly reporting any accidents and implement corrective and preventive action appropriately
Additional duties as assigned.
Participate in daily morning meetings.
Provide education and coaching to nursing staff as needed to improve patient/resident outcomes.
Provide clinical backup to floors as needed.
Take weekend call as assigned.
Complete Chart audits for Medicaid patients monthly.
Develop and maintain the nursing policies and procedures as needed.

Qualifications:
¨ RN or LPN with license in good standing in the State of Nebraska or a compact state.
¨ Three years prior nursing experience in long term care environment required. Previous experience with QA, Infection Control, and/or Risk Management functions preferred.
LPN $32.00 + & RN $41.00 + per hour
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
¨ Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
¨ Effective organizational skills.
: Strong management skills required.
¨ Proficient in use of computers to accomplish daily work tasks.
¨ Ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external constituents.
¨ Sound clinical knowledge of various diagnosis, laboratory values, medications, and therapy modalities.
