Job Overview
The PCSP (Personal Care Support Professional) plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to individuals in need. This position involves assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting their independence, and ensuring their overall well-being. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve while adhering to best practices in personal care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility support.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding as necessary, ensuring dietary needs are met.
- Monitor and document clients' health status and report any changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping tasks.
- Follow care plans developed by healthcare professionals to ensure consistency in care delivery.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of clients at all times.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in personal care or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Must be able to pass background checks and meet any required training certifications.
- Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including availability for evenings or weekends as needed.
Requirements
- Perform tasks assigned by the coordinator.
- Discuss the client’s progress with the coordinator.
- Promptly report any changes observed in the client’s condition. As well as reporting any incident that may occur.
- Use agency forms/Electronic Visit verification application to record daily activities.
- Perform ONLY tasks specified for each client on the service plan.
- Follow emergency procedures in the event of any medical or non-medical situations.
- Follow universal precautions/proper infection control when providing client service.
- Maintain client confidentiality per HIPAA and agency policy guidelines. Always follow client rights.
- Attend scheduled meetings & in-service education annually per agency policy.
- Follow agency policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
