THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will plan, implement, and evaluate resident care based on standards of nursing and Gerontological practice and standards of resident care and provide professional nursing care and treatment services following long-term care state and federal regulatory guidelines.

Situated in the beautiful mountains near Michaux State Forest, South Mountain Restoration Center is a Long-Term Care Skilled Nursing Home Facility operated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement. Working full time for a government organization including South Mountain Restoration Center, may qualify you for the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.  This program offers assistance with student loan debt.
• Full-time employment.
• Work hours are 2nd shift (2:45 pm to 11:15 pm, 30-minute lunch) or 3rd shift (11:00 pm to 7:00 am, no lunch). Rotating on and off duty days including weekends and holidays. Rotation includes every other weekend off.
• Travel: As needed
• Overtime: As needed
• Shift work: No
• May change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Special Requirements: 

• Possession of a current license to practice as a registered nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing; or possession of a non-renewable temporary practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Condition of Employment: 

• Employees possessing non-renewable temporary practice permits must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. 

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• If you are within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting.  At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: 

• A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and a drug screening test.  
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
