Since 1953, Cedar Community has provided quality health care services to residents and patients from Washington County and beyond. Cedar Community currently employs more that 750 people and has more that 1,000 health care center and retirement housing residents living on its Cedar Lake campus, Cedar Landing campus and Cedar Ridge campus. The Benevolent Corporation Cedar Community has several divisions focusing on a unique service or program. An industry leader, Cedar Community is a not-for-profit community affiliated with the United Church of Christ.

Company History

Based In West Bend, Wis., Cedar Community is the nation's 89th largest not-for-profit, continuum of care provider whose mission is "dedicated to creating relationships, services and environments that enhance the lives of individuals we serve." In 1953, aging bachelor farmer William Koehl donated his property overlooking Big Cedar Lake to the United Church of Christ to serve the elderly. In 1956, Cedar Community opened its first nursing home there. Cedar Community grew over the next 35 years to provide as many as 415 skilled care nursing home beds. Acknowledged nationally as a pioneer in aging servicdes, Cedar Community created one of the nation's first nursing facilities dedicated solely to those suffering from memory loss in 1976. Ten years later, Cedar Valley Retreat Center was opened, as well as Cedar Ridge, a 312-apartment complex for independent seniors. Following that the development of the independent Village Homes for active retirees, as well as one of the nation's first not-for-profit rehabilitation agengies.

Steve Jaberg, Cedar Community's Current chief executive officer, continues to expand its mission. From homes and apartments for active and independent retirees, to assisted lving, subacute (short-term) care, rehabilitation, skilled nursing and memory loss services, Cedar Community provides the reassurance that, should a resident's needs change, he or she has the ready access to all levels of a long tradtition of quality care. With the 2006 addition of Cedar Landing, a campus in Elkhart Lake and the 2011 purchase of the 160 acre Cedar Run campus, Cedar Community is now six campuses and 16 divisions strong, with more that 1100 residents. We employ more that 750 employees, and benefit from the dedication of more than 500 volunteers. Hundreds more people in fice southwast Wisconsin counties and served through our outreach programs and home health and home hospice services.
